Everyone has seen the classical roduction of "The Nutcracker" and there are several offerings of it in the greater Hartford area, so this holiday

Thursday 11/11/10 at 12:30 CONNetic Dancers Carolyn Paine, Ashley Fichera, and Justine Sheedy will premiere Ruth Veskenka Lewis' new ballet M-Theory in an open studio showcase at Ballet Theatre studios! The showing is free to attend and a reception will follow.

August 21st & 22nd CONNetic Dance will be premerieing their first co-collaborated choreographed piece "Perceptions and Echos" on Martha's Vineyard's annual Built On Stilts Festival! Set to music be Zoe Keating filled with dramatic partnering, intricate movement and delightful blend of ballet, contemporary and modern.

Unique with technique

CONNetic is keeping busy and recently did the choreography and performed in the new rock opera "Pyramid" by Kenneth Lundquist Jr. at The Clockwork Rep Theatre in CT. The dancers have also been busy with a series of photoshoots at CT landmarks including the beautiful Enders Waterfalls in Granby and the historic carousel in Bushnell Park. In the studio, the company is beginning rehearsals for their annual tour to Martha's Vineyard in August for the Built on Stilts Dance Festival and for their dance video project in collaboration with WolfLynx Productions. Stay tuned for other exciting projects! And join us in the studio all summer for dance and fitness classes!

CONNetic Dance ventures to Bushnell Park's historic carousel and the surrounding park for a circus themed photo shoot. The project was a collaboration between photographers Alex Minkin, Shannon Morrissey, Nick Caito, Jen Merli, and Laure Deiber Savary. The amazingly creative hair design which featured balloon, tuille, and flecks of sparkling sugar among the curls in the girls hair was created by Wayne Poisson of The Color Bar in West Hartford Center. The equally imaginative make-up was done by Mac Artist Tara Abate. And the costumes were by Sister of the Moon (www.etsy.com/shop/sistersofthemoon).

Every company deserves a 5 min long standing ovation

Alice in Wonderland, featuring a collaboration of dance styles and choreography by Carolyn Paine, Amy Merli, Ruth Vesenka Lewis, Yoshio Chandler, Elyse Cote, Justin Hues, and Tracy Dorman premiered this weekend in West Hartford at the Carol Autorino Center at St. Joseph's College. With a large cast, featuring many guest dancers from the CT and MA and children from West Hartford's Ballet Theatre Academy, it was an ambitious undertaking for CONNetic Dance, but incredibly successful-as proven by the five minute standing ovation the cast received during curtain calls! Audience members called it an "outstanding and fun creation" with "great, exciting dancing" and "cool music choices."

Alice In Wonderland 2pm performance May 22nd

CONNetic Dance Presents "Alice in Wonderland"

CONNetic Dance, Hartford's contemporary ballet company, is presenting an all new, unique, contemporary production of "Alice in Wonderland" this Saturday 2pm and 7pm at The Carol Autorino Center at St. Joseph's College in West Hartford. In additional to the professional dancers, the production features over 30 children and adults from the Hartford dance community and Ballet Theatre Academy.

The production, conceived and directed by CONNetic Dance director and founder, Carolyn Paine, features a fusion of different dance styles to bring to life the quirky characters. A Bollywood style Caterpillar flanked with a harem of belly dancers, a jazz ballet Mad Hatter's Tea Party, an enchanted garden of hippie flowers, a hip hopping TweedleDee and TweedleDum, and a deck of cards shuffling on pointe are just some of the original takes on the popular classic tale. With amazing vibrant costumes and multimedia effects, the production is sure to be a pleasing hit with all ages!

CONNetic Dance Performs Free in Elizabeth Park
Hartford's contemporary ballet company CONNetic Dance will perform Sunday,

May 16th at 4pm

on the stage by the Rose Garden in Elizabeth Park.
The company will perform excerpts from their new, unique contemporary ballet Alice in Wonderland which will be performed May 22nd at The Carol Autorino Center at St. Joseph College. In the park, the company will also perform works from their repertory and be joined by students from West Hartford's Ballet Theatre Company as well as some live musicians.
